Once a drillhole has started the work of the exploration geologist is crucial. It is now when the rocks from the borehole are described at the same time as the hole is being drilled. It is very important to have the skills to interpret correctly the lithologies and mineralizations that have been intercepted to be able to make connections with the previous exploration methods – mapping, soil/rock sampling and geophysics. All these are pieces of a puzzle to get the whole picture not only of the deposit (if there is one), but also of the geological context, which will guid the geologist´s future decisions.
